Disneyland & Disney World Miniatures.. inclusive of Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge

I have been fortunate and blessed to have many opportunities to visit the Happiest Place on Earth, and it’s cousins around the world. Every time I visit these places the inner kid comes out as I watch my own grown children, and my grandchildren enjoying the things as I once viewed them. Actually… I still do see the magic in it all. The Miniatures and full sized props that come out of Disney are astounding, and I thought I would share some of them here today. Keep in mind that these photos are taken through their glass encasement’s. And still… the magic behind it all makes me smile. I believe that miniatures simply bring us all into great wonder… no matter who we may be!

Enjoy!

GALAXY’S EDGE

This is the model that is for the new Star Wars areas that are currently being build in both Disneyland, and Disney World Locations.
It is going to be quite the experience, with full immersive characters, rides and shops… not to mention the Millennium Falcon!

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle

The first built for Disneyland, this beautiful Castle was based off the actual Castle Neuschwanstein, a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. If anyone remembers the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, it is the Castle used in that film…. and many other films.

AVATAR’s MK-6
Mitsubishi MK-6 Amplified Mobility Platform (or AMP suit)

This is at Disneyworld, in the Animal Kingdom, located in the Avatar World. The land itself is quite amazing, and as you exit the main shop there, (where you may have an actual Avatar dol created with your facial features), you immediately encounter this beast, parked in front of the shop. In these shots, for scale I asked my son to stand in front of it. It is quite impressive! I want one! LOL

AVATAR – Netiri 1:1 Bust

This piece is not for sale, but does reside in the Avatar Store that the above mentioned AMP suit stands in front of.
This sculpture is magnificent and is inspiring me to make full sized Na’vi for display here.

 Toy Story Land

These are photos of the miniature that represents what will be another land within Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
At least I think that is where it will be. Never the less…. it look like a fantastic area to visit once it is completed!

Walt Disney’s Own Build – Granny’s Cabin

This piece is amazing… and built by Walt Disney himself! The Miniature illusion is fantastic here.
You can see my grandchildren through the back door of the cabin Miniature to show scale!

Walt Disney’s CITY OF TOMORROW

Impressive model that can only be seen as you are on the People Mover in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Big Thunder Mountain

This miniature resides in the Lobby of one of the Disneyland Hotel Towers… Impressive work!

Spaceship Earth

I remember viewing the full sized Spaceship Earth back in 1983 for the first time at Disney World’s EPCOT Center.
The intricacy of it is amazing! And.. it houses a ride! The miniature captures it very well.

Paradise Pier

Amazing miniature located in Disney World of the Pier that was built in California Adventure, adjacent to Disneyland!

Jungle Cruise

I have so many memories that encompass this great ride… including seeing “The back-side of water” each and every time! LOL. This is a fantastic Miniature of what it began as.

Hollywood Tower of Terror

What a fantastic miniature! This is one that will be of the long lost themed rides. While at the time I type this, it is still Hollywood Tower of Terror in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, like it’s original located at Disneyland, this ride is being re-made into the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. This model is a great representation that will live on!

Emporium on Main Street USA

The most recognized shop on all of Main Street USA.

Disney Cruise Line – The Disney Fantasy

I have been on the Disney Wonder, and this model is a great representation of Disney Cruise Line’s latest floating Theme Park… the Disney Fantasy! This amazing miniature is located in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland in California. I remember being on the phone with artist Mike Salzo as I took these photos… a funny memory, but factual!

Cinderella’s Castle

Each Magic Kingdom has it’s own Castle, none of which are the same, but have the same feel and look about them.
This model represents the Castle in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!
