Jared Wynn’s Hasbro Millennium Falcon Conversion to TFA Version!

Hasbro releasing this toy was a dream come true, the proportions are spot on, it is almost the same size as the ILM model just shy of a few inches. I got this for Christmas a few years ago and worked on it off and on. The reason this took so long to do was because I started working freelance for a group of Toy Designers and sculpted a doll that is being released by Spinmaster toys this fall. I sculpted the one prototype until I worked on what ended up becoming the production sculpt for 4 variants of the doll. When the work on the doll wrapped up last November I went to work on the Falcon, realizing my dream of having built a studio scale Millennium Falcon. I bought a few items from Shapeways that were 3D printed, the ESB cockpit cone and the Quad-Lasers. I scratched and bashed the rest of the detailing that was missing as well as used Randy Cooper’s Photo-etched pieces that he designed. I built a housing for an LED strip to go into the back for the Hyperdrive engine. This could be a bone of contention, but the glow of the engine is white, not blue. I cannot understand why people make it blue, it’s not! To create the damage on the hull I simply used a solder gun and melted the hull while being careful not to go through the hull. For the paint I mixed my own colors for the hull. I got Testors light grey and mixed it with white to get a lighter grey and added paint thinner to the mix so it would go through my airbrush without clogging up. The other colors are Testors Acryl paints. I also used powdered pigments to add some rust and streaking to the hull.

Thanks,
Jared Wynn
