Life Sized DROIDS

I was in contact with artist Dan Grumeretz a few months ago and he informed me of this fantastic project that he and Randy Johnson (KORBANTH) are making. Full sized DROIDS! You know I am going nuts over these!

Here is what Dan has to say…

“Here are the details on the R2. Randy Johnson aka Korbanth or Sith Planet is the guy putting these together. He is the one who is offering the Star Destroyer Bridge model on your site.

On R2 I help with paint, electronics and some assembly. He has a guy that made the master and makes the parts. Custom requests can be accommodated. I attached two other color versions (R2-A6 and R2-Q5) we did, those are from the old version molds and not as clean or accurate as this new one.

All new R5 head master is being worked on now.

We also can make life size 3PO droids, 4 Lom, and soon the Deathstar/RA-7/insect droid the Silver guy on the Sandcrawler with insect looking head also seen briefly on the Death star in Black.”

“Ok…Near done..just wanting on one coin Return metal panel bottom part of body.

• Body – Sono tube thick, etched body, panels hand cut, some metal parts, lightweight, vinyl stickers for blue areas.
• Dome – Fiberglass, perfectly round, vinyl stickers, electronics for blinking lights, holo-projectors 4 piece castings.
• Legs – Resin foam filled, multi part, perfectly fitting together, metal ankle toppers – new under shoulder details.
• Feet – Fiberglass hollow, sturdy, can support 200lbs, and could be fitted with wheels very possibly – metal parts
• Batteries – resin foam filled, metal parts near bottom

The most sturdy R2 I have ever seen…and the lightest…
