This documentary is about the dying art of model making. Focusing on the personal stories of the model makers whose work shaped and enhanced the impact of feature films and gave it a breathtaking scale. Their practical hands on art is now slowly dying out, giving way to computer generated imagery.
The model makers share their [...]
It has been a while since we saw a build from this artist… and he hasn’t missed a beat with his build of the Moebius Seaview! Very nicely done!

I picked up the Moebius kit shortly after it was released; the fit of the parts/alignment was just about perfect and well-thought out, then I [...]

Magazine Designer Ian Blaza, and Ian Allan Publishing are producing a new publication… Spaceships of Science Fiction! This publication looks fantastic as you can see for yourself with the examples he emailed me to show here on Modeler Magic!
I have attached some sample spreads of the Spaceships of Science fiction publication with a brief synopsis.
Artists Alexander Rivera and Eric Chu have teamed up to produce a number if models of the FS-1 Flying Sub in time for 2012 Wonderfest! Below are the main orthos for that model that Eric penned.

I have the great pleasure of introducing another great talent to this Gallery… Mr Ken Hart! His contributions and works are quite recognized in the hobby and industry. We are honored to be able to show some of them here.
Here is what Ken had to say of these SEAVIEW Composite Art Works…
My name is Ken [...]
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea….. on of Irwin Allen’s fantastic adventures! Here is a great scene done by Canadian artist Warren Zoell that is beautiful. The depth and color really make this piece come to life.

I have been blown away by some fantastic re-designs before now…. and this is no different! Dennis DeBoer (known for his 46 inch Enterprise 1701-A and Reliant kits, as well as many amazing Submarine Replicas) has again brought us a fantastic piece in this re-design of the Seaview Sub we all admired growing up, but [...]
I have to say that Marc Elkins continues to prove what an excellent, and professional modeler he is! His creativeness is astounding when it comes to modification of the original models. So much so that his models could be used for filming!
Here is what Marc has to say regarding this MOEBIUS Seaview Sub build!
This beautiful piece is from professional miniaturist Paul Lubliner! The SEAVIEW is one of the most recognizable models from the Irwin Allen adventure series of the 60’s and 70’s. My Favorite version of this is the Movie version with the more windows. Of course the Flying Sub wasn’t yet around, and was a great addition [...]
What an outstanding replica this turned out to be! Professional modeler Rob McFarlane really showed his skills with this piece!
Here is what Rob had to say…
The design is one of my all-time faves (when it comes to subs, Harper Goff’s da Man).
No fancy lighting here (next time!), but lots o’scratch-built detail parts e.g. rudder, thrusters, [...]
For my friend Rob McFarlane, here are some photos of the Proteus Studio Model taken in front of a green screen for FX. This is the actual filming model used in Fantastic Voyage, restored by Greg Jien, and is now in the Collection of Paul Allen!
Words direct from Randy himself…
Believe it or not this 3 1/8″ long model is studio scale. They would use one for wide shots.
The base for the kit is 4 1/2″ long. It’s great for those of you who don’t have the space, or don’t like big kits.
(This is not a finished prepainted kit)
Price: $25 [...]
